Barb Cook has been working and teaching at The Birds and the Beads since 2002. Originally from Illinois she was an Art Education major and pursued multiple creative outlets including painting, quilting, needlework and sewing. Beading is the perfect medium for Barb who has been afflicted with CADD (Creative Attention Deficit Disorder) because of the multiple techniques and constantly changing landscape in the beading world.
Gina DiEnna • I have been employed at The Birds and The Beads for 18 months now and loving it. I have always had a passion for creating beautiful jewelry and have been designing and teaching classes for 3 years. I studied soldering and metal working in Chicago. I am self-taught in metal stamping and various other jewelry making techniques such as macrame and crystal clay. I enjoy teaching classes in metal stamping, soldering, bead weaving, and macrame.
Susan M. Eisemann • I have been beading off and on for over 20 years. My first beading adventure started when I saw a piece of fashion jewelry that I wanted but I didn’t want to pay the asking price. I thought I would save some money and make it myself. Boy, was I wrong! Yes, the pin (glued together) did turn out great. I still have it and wear it today as a reminder of my bead journey andhow I’ve saved so much that I probably have enough beads to buy Manhattan.
I have been teaching intermediate to advanced off-loom weaving classes at The Birds and the Beads since 2005. I just love seeing the students have that “ah haaa” moment when the pattern or technique finally clicks. I find that beaders are very generous people willing to pass on their knowledge to others. Later in 2013 I will be offering my older patterns for sale on CD exclusively through The Birds and the Beads. So don’t forget to join The Birds and the Beads Facebook page to find out the first delivery of CDs.
